Accused serial killer Charles Kembo testified yesterday that his wife, Margaret Kembo, blew about $600,000 on a psychic, causing a rift in their relationship.

Under cross-examination by prosecutor Hank Reiner in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver, Kembo claimed that in the spring and summer of 2001 he discovered his wife had spent the money before he tried to buy a gas station in Squamish.

“When it came time to make arrangements for purchase of the business, Margaret told me that the money wasn’t there anymore,” Kembo said.

Kembo, who has admitted he is a fraudster, but denies committing murder, said his wife had taken cash from a safety deposit box.
